True Lamb of God

The Crucifixion

Some Scripture [Douay-Rheims 1899 Edition] and thoughts about Good Friday:

Wherefore, when he cometh into the world he saith: ‘Sacrifice and oblation thou wouldest not: but a body thou hast fitted to me.  Holocausts for sin did not please thee.’  Then said I: ‘Behold I come: in the head of the book it is written of me: that I should do thy will, O God.’ (Hebrews 10:5-7)

For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son:  (John 3:16)

Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, and in habit found as a man. He humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death, even to the death of the Cross. (Philippians 2:6-8)

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.

In Dorothy Sayer’s play, The Man Born to be King, Mary says:

When He was small, I washed and fed Him; I dressed Him in His little garments and combed the rings of His hair. When He cried, I comforted Him; when He was hurt, I kissed away the pain; and when darkness fell, I sang Him to sleep. Now He goes faint and fasting in the dust, and His hair is tangled with thorns; they will strip Him naked to the sun, and hammer nails into His living flesh, and the great darkness will cover Him. And there is nothing I can do. Nothing at all.

Mary’s Son dies on the Cross, conceived in her virginal womb, formed for nine months, fed with her flesh and blood, born in a stable, placed in a manger, nourished with her motherly milk, cradled and brought up, led by her hand, instructed by her words, defended in His infancy from Herod, helped in His public mission, and assisted at His crucifixion.

As Jesus dies on the Cross, He gives us His Mother to be our Mother and she takes us all into her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Today, Good Friday, both Jesus and Mary complete the Will of the Father. Mary offers her Son to the Father and Jesus immolates Himself as a victim for our salvation. He is the true Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

  1. The King of Kings was born to die for us this world and the world before he came into being. Mother Mary was and is the greatest of all mothers to our Lord too us. When Jesus was on the cross our Lady did do something! No she could not remove him off the cross… she became one with him on the cross her Body-Heart-Soul felt all that the lord felt they were one Mother & Son.
